Spring has sprung and it's that time of year again! While your friends and family are busy doing their spring-cleaning, preparing their taxes, and thinking about what to give up for Lent, you want nothing more than to unwind and have some fun! And, why not? This is the perfect time to host a memorable event for friends and family members and offer everyone some time to mix, mingle, and have a blast. Like any other event, hosting a successful Mardi Gras party requires a great deal of organization and some degree of creativity. If you're looking to host a spectacular Mardi Gras themed party, keep the following tips in mind.

Location.

Location, location, location; it's everything! If you are thinking about hosting a Mardi Gras party, you should first consider where you will be hosting it. Although Mari Gras parties could certainly be held in your own home, many people feel that too many guests in too small of a space is no good. If you can afford it, research some local venues where you may be able to hold your party. Otherwise, having an at-home Mardi Gras party is a great option, just be sure to keep your available space in mind when you are creating your guest list. No one is going to have fun if you have one hundred people crammed into a 1000 square foot apartment.

Guests.

Your guest list is crucial when you are throwing a Mardi Gras themed party. When you determine what kind of vibe you are going for, you can start hammering out your guest list from there. Not only should you decide how many people you'll invite, you should also consider the kinds of personalities you'll be pitting against one another. Although it may be fun to mix together people of different backgrounds and personality types in order to get the most diverse group dynamics and interesting conversations going, keep in mind that differing personalities can often clash, and the last thing that you want at your party is a lot of drama. Nothing kills a party more than tension.

Take some time to make a list of your potential guests. Next, purchase some invitations. Great invitations can be purchased at a craft store or invitation shop. Alternatively, you can send invitations online through social networking such as Facebook or an invitation website such as Evite.com. Online invitations can make managing your guest list and RSVPs a lot easier.

Once you have a rough estimate of the number of people attending, you can have a better idea of how much food, drinks, and favors you may need.
