Reflections: Responsibility

by Anthony Lindsey

Created on: February 08, 2009

There are several distinct traits which reciprocate leadership and success. Employers, Co-Workers, and others in leadership positions, inadvertently review your past experiences and determine whether or not you are indeed a potential leader. Though there are many traits that reflect a potential leader, responsibility is perhaps the most important, and the most noticeable, aspect. People you encounter in both your personal and work life will know whether or not you are responsible even through daily interaction. In order to be put in leadership positions, affect the lives of others, and become successful, responsibility must be involved in every aspect of one's daily life. Throughout each day we can remember: Responsibility is essential when leading, being responsible represents how passionate you are about reaching your personal goals and being responsible affects the lives of others.

Responsibility is essential when leading. History's most renowned leaders practiced responsibility in all of their actions. When leading they would be sure to plan ahead, stay organized, and remain focused. In doing so, they were able to spark revolutions, win wars, and influence the lives of countless people. Irresponsible people are neither capable of making such changes nor influencing the lives of anyone. Alfred Montapert once said, "Nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices. " It is impossible for one to escape the consequences of their responsibilities. Though some make excuses about their irresponsible behavior or even attempt to run from their responsibilities, there is no way of truly escaping. We are held accountable for everything that we do. Therefore, only those who can take accountability for their actions and incorporate responsibility into their daily lives will be effective leaders. People who are responsible excel at following given instruction and in turn gain the opportunity to lead others. Incorporating responsibility into our daily routine will allow more leadership opportunities which in turn will yield success.

Responsibility is essential when leading; it openly signifies how passionate you are towards reaching personal goals. Openly presenting one's passion for a loved one, sport, or even one's take on life catches the attention of others. People quickly realize that
