There are many sources available for learning how to make money online and there are many different ways to actually do it. One of the easiest places to start is by simply doing a search at any major search engine for "make money online" or "free home business." You'll get many results with many different types of programs that promise to make you rich with minimal effort. You will have quite a task at sorting out which ones are legitimate and which ones are scams.
Before you jump headlong into any of these programs though, you should spend some time doing your due diligence checking them out. There are some websites out there that will explain different ways to make money online and tell you how to tell the difference between a legitimate company and an online scam. One place to start is www.allwebsuccess.com to learn some simple ways to get started.
There are things that you should look for and things you should LOOK OUT for in any program that you are thinking about getting involved with. You need to educate yourself a little before you decide to get involved with any program on the internet. Here are a couple of government websites to help you evaluate online programs and make sure you aren't dealing with a scam:

If you find a "business op" that you think is good and you want to give it a try, go to a search engine and put in the exact name of the program or website. If there are any complaints out there about it, they will most likely come up in the search results. Don't forget to check at the Better Business Bureau for any complaints against it.
Another good resource is the Direct Selling Association. Most online money making programs are structured in a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) format, also known as Direct Selling. This site will tell you all about what it is and how it works.
There are many other ways to make money online other than the many MLM programs you will find. Here are a few of them:
Selling products on auction sites such as Ebay.
Marketing your products from your own website.
Marketing other people's products from your own website.
Writing and marketing your own ebook or information product.
Get-paid-to read email.
Get-paid-to take surveys.
Writing copy on sites such as Helium.
I would recommend that you decide which method of making money you are most interested in and then doing a search for information specific to that method. In other words, when you do a search, don't just use general search terms like "make money online" but get more specific. If you want to make money by selling products on auctions sites, then search for "wholesale sources" and "selling on ebay", etc. If you want to make money writing, use search terms such as "writing", "make money writing", or "writing online." You get the idea. Experiment with search terms and you will be amazed at the information you can find.
You can also find a wealth of information about doing business online and business in general offline in the forms of books and magazines such as Entrepreneur, Success, Website Magazine, etc. Check your local bookstore, library or online at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
There are also lots of good ebooks out there authored by some of the most successful people on the internet. If there was only one thing that I could recommend, it would be to find people that are successful, learn from them and then do what they do. One way to do that is to buy their books either electronically or in print. There are lots of good ones that are priced reasonably that will give you a wealth of information.
You can also check the forums and chat rooms online but be careful who you take advice from. A lot of people them to push their favorite program but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a legitimate opportunity. Just remember that anyone pushing you to sign up has a bias in favor of the program so check further than just one source of information.
Spending time reading and doing research before you jump into internet marketing can have a huge impact on whether you will succeed.
