Poetry: Beyond love

by Judy Harkins

He knows my heart
reaching for my hand gently, he knows my heart
feeling my sadness, he connects
not always talking, communicating in other ways
he reaches for my hand and heart today.

smiling gently as he pulls me back
from foreign places.
I know he is wondering but hesitates in asking
where I have been and why.

strolling across two acres hand in hand
we're going places. softly talking
not yet whispering, climbing fences
his hand gently tenses.

beyond all love, we travel together
holding hands through all kinds of weather.
he knows me deeply and somehow finds
when I've lingered in caves I've mined.
