How many TV sets are too many within the home?

The question: "How many TV sets are too many within the home?" is a fairly relative one. There are a number of factors which must be considered before deciding on the answer.

If there are children in the home, TV is a great way to keep them amused with minimal effort. It may not always be appropriate for them to watch a program the adult wants to watch so having another TV in the house is a good idea. The adult can watch what they want to watch and the child can watch what they want to watch. No hassle. There are a couple of other benefit of having multiple TV sets in your home, with relation to children, such as punishment. If your child has been naughty then what better way to punish them than take away the one thing in their bedroom that they "can't do without"? Even the threat of taking their TV away will be enough to pull your child back in line.

Of course, your children are bound to get older and as they do this, they will require more and more personal time. Teenagers are forever complaining about not having enough space for themselves and one TV set in their house will only cement this argument. A TV in their room would thus give them the choice of where to spend their free time, thus taking away their standing ground on the point of space. If they choose to spend time in front of the main television then they can't complain about not having space.

The amount of children in a household is a factor in this decision as well. If a household has more than two children then it is my opinion that more than one television is very advisable. No-one is going to be completely satisfied with the program they are watching at any one time. having one extra television in a separate room dissipates any arguments that may arise due to the choice of program.

I am one that prefers PC's to computer consoles and so I believe that having multiple TV sets so games can be played on consoles is not a good justification. If games are the reason for considering having multiple TV sets in the home then i whole heartedly suggest buying a PC instead. They are so much better than consoles in the fact that they do so much more than just play games.

Lastly, even if you are in a household with no children, I kno no cosier place to lay with your loved one and watch a film than your bed. Who wants to get comfy and watch a film and then have to turn the lights on and clamber up to bed? No-one! If there is a TV in the bedroom as well as downstairs, you can spend your daytime watching tele in the living room and then have a nice night in with your spouse in the bedroom.
