Poetry: Sleep

by Victoria Cross

Created on: February 08, 2009

Sleepless nights

I lay my head down
and try and sleep
I toss and I turn
without a peep

My head races
like cars on a track
Passing every thought
and then coming back

No matter how hard
I try to push thoughts out
There back again
knowing no doubt

That if I can just focus
on something sweet
that I'll fall into a slumber,
mission complete

I try not to think
but their persistent indeed
Dark circles are there
and its sleep I need

But miraculously I'm able
to calm my mind
At last pleasant dreams
is what I find

The traffic has stopped
and now I can rest
So I can re coop
and be at my best.
