Poetry: Suicidal thoughts

by Jerry Grace

Created on: February 08, 2009

As I sit here in the lonely night I think of things that just aren't right

so I try instead to focus on the positive.

Not a day goes by that the vision of death brings peace closer to my door and it is that vision that makes me crave more the love of my Lord.

But today is not the day I can see that vision fulfilled for there are many people who need me still.

Damn!

The quiet engulfs me again and suffers me to live a while longer

the agony, the grief, the pain, the emptiness of life.

Who can relieve this wringing in my gut not who but what

See my friend over there with the long arm and a cold, metal hole

Shame, disgrace, and anguish in my soul

Fool!

A queer ringing in my ear dismisses me from the dilemma I hold

but no one is on the other end.

Just another cruel delight from the one who wants me to take my life tonight

and the battle goes on.

Maybe another victory won but for which

Idiot!

All there is left is sleep, sleep, sleep....................
