It's dark outside,
it's quiet and it's cold.
The brand new day
is just a few hours old.
Might be another bad one.
Lord knows
I've had a few of those.
I'm quiet too,
and I move around softly.
I sort my thoughts
and shake the tough ones off me.
I wash out a cup
and pour in
my morning coffee.
It steadies my hand, to raise up the cup,
It eases my mind when I wanna give up,
Never has a little meant so much...
It's time for my morning coffee.
This is the time
I use to get my head right.
Sometimes the time
I forget about last night.
But always the time
I think things just might,
turn out...right.
With a cup in my hand
I shave off the stubble
Wet my face,
wash off the troubles,
take a drink and drag
maybe a couple,
cause...
It steadies my hand to raise up the cup,
It eases my mind when I wanna give up,
The world keeps spinning, but I stir it up,
I stir...my morning coffee.
There's economic crisis
and war on every channel.
We're running out of oil
and that's just a sample.
Why get out of bed?
Ain't it just a gamble?
It' a hard time of day
to find yourself alone.
I told you it's dark
and I told you it's cold.
Before I face the day,
I need my last taste of home.
It steadies my hand to raise up the cup,
It eases my mind when I wanna give up.
Now that you know that it means so much,
would you sit with me...
while I drink my morning coffee?
