Weight class is very important for the amateur wrestler. A few pounds can completely change weight classes. If someone wanted to stay in the middleweight division, attention to diet and working out is critical. That said, weight flucuates on an hourly basis. It's very easy to be a few extra pounds too much just by eating a couple of hours before the event.
In the event the athelete weighs in too much before the event, there are much safer methods than starving one's self before a contest.
The secret to weight loss is digestion. The quicker the metabolism, the faster the body is able to break down food. There are several ways to speed up the digestive track. Perhaps the easiest being digestive enzymes.
Enzymes are catalysts that trigger chemical reactions in the body. Everything in the body needs enzymes to function properly. Without them, the digestive track cannot process food. There are a number of enzymes that do it safely and easily. One of my favorites is Papaya enzymes. They increase the metabolism, allowing the body to absorb whatever is in the system faster. It cleans out any poisons in the body, and makes you drop a few pounds in the process.
Another method to quickly lose weight is cleansing and fasting. Juicing is an excellent method of accomplishing this. One formula that works is taking carrots, onions and garlic and juice them down. It doesn't taste good, but once again it goes inside your system and breaks down any free radicals or excess chemicals in the body. The weight loss is a side benefit. This also allows a wrestler to maintain proper levels of nutrition while training and losing weight.
But not only do you have to do these things, you have to stay away from the things that brought your weight up to begin with. Cut out simple sugars from your diet. Sugars are one of the more difficult things to break down. Stay away from the sweets and concentrate on just the essentials. No junk foods, no potato chips, no cookies, no chocolate bars.
Finally, once you've started doing the things mentioned above, exercise. Running, walking, swimming, biking, weight lifting all tend to drop the pounds. Activity once again increases metalbolism. The more active the body, the pounds fall. So if you are getting heavy before your next competition, run, swim and walk. You'll find the pounds vanish in a matter of days or weeks.
There are many other methods out there that deal with maintaining your ideal class to compete. All in all, the methods of weight loss are no different for any athlete. It's diet, diet and diet, and exercise. The more you exercise you do, the more effective you'll be in keeping your weight under control, and the more often you'll be able to compete in the weight class you desire.
