Just wanted to say that Associated Content has paid me for two humor articles-though only $4 for one about housework and $6 for one about the Super Bowl (presumably paying a few dollars more because its Super Bowl time.) I've also posted both of those articles on Helium, since I sold AC non-exclusive rights. They seem to pay a little less for more narrowly focused articles (e.g., business-related content) than they do for articles that would be of wider interest.
My highest-paid articles on AC so far have been one on pressure cookers, one on manufacturers' coupons, one on household organization, and one on how to comfort a friend after the loss of a loved one.
On AC, the sky's the limit, as far as subject matter goes; but it's important to present good, highly readable, well-formatted copy that has a minimum of grammatical errors and typos (since it will go online basically the way it appears after you've typed it into the particular template you use for the type of article you're writing.) This isn't to say, of course, that they won't accept copy that contains a few typos-or even a few grammatical errors-but, if there are too many, publication of your work may be held up while you are asked to do an overhaul.
So far, all my content has been published with nothing more than a few minor changes by the AC Admin team. I haven't been asked to redo anything, which is great! That's why I like to be especially careful to submit really polished copy-It's really worth it. Besides, my writing represents me; so it's important to me that it makes a good impression!
Try Associated Content, if you haven't yet! They're pretty prompt in making offers for your work-and very prompt in paying for it! I've sold 10 articles to them so far since the first of the year (not counting items published without payment) and the longest I've waited to receive payment after accepting their offer was 3 days. My fastest payment was the same day I accepted their offer! (They do pay through PayPal.)
Good luck and happy writing!
