Poetry: Hard times

by Michael Stonecipher

Created on: February 07, 2009

Damn the bricks of bitter strife
That dam sweet current's course of life
Bricks built of lonely moonbeam's light
Still heavy as love's captive's plight.
And empty still the arms are weak
lips whetted but they cannot speak
Flesh burns of infancy's desires
Heart, of infancy's hellfires sharp
The arrows pierce our souls.

We've seen these scenes here
passed and passed again
On different paths
Dead Deeds done echo past their aftermaths
Reverberate in heart, and soul, and mind
As precious time doth pass the idle by
Tick, tock,..tick,..tock,..tick,..tock.tick

The clock slowly unwinds
The gears fatigue, and rust, and bind.
A tired tick and apathetic tock
With ticks and tocks and beats all born synonymous

So as the clock unwinds so unwinds the twine of sanity
Thread by thread leaves life and love to dread
Knot by knot for life, and love, and lineage all rot
Inch by inch the universe unravels. . .
