Dwarves
The dwarf moved inside the hollow tree
A squirrel and owl were his neighbors
He rattled inside the trunk
Carrying in his bed, and books
His lamp and stuffed bears
Were last
He knew he was finished
When he hammered in a nail
Above his coal stove
The family portrait
Faced the room, twenty some smiling faces
He had been sent out
To find a home
For all of them to live in
The tiny dwarf had one flaw
He could never see
What will happen next
So, the next day
When they all piled into the old tree
He saw his error
His place in the family
His place in this old tree
Ended up having him standing outside
Eventually, he crawled up into the branches
And shared the owl and squirrel's home
During the day he crawled out for food
Played in the branches
He never learned to
Think
Ahead
