His blood ran deep, lost in the sand
A child shivering
In the guise of a man
Fear and confusion, just following orders
Doing as he's told
Forced to cross sovereign borders
Older men choosing the time of his death
A means to an end
Till he takes his last breath
Religious evil must be put down
Despite all the blood
That is spilled on the ground
Did Shock and Awe precursor
The Seige of Jaffa?
Did flowering youth ever get very far?
Ascalon fell in the medieval past
Will the fall of Baghdad
Insure peace will last?
Many young souls abruptly detached
Al-Babein lay in ruin
Our future mirrors our past
Proudly they pour through the Karbala Gap
Our hopes and our dreams
Splintered wood, bleeding sap
Crusader blows strengthened by God's might
Iraqi freedom
Today out of sight
Arrogant and intolerant, such leaders need unseated
The pallor of war
Is too often repeated

innately nimble thumb sans thimble up
with index OK, it'll be a slow day

A Yearning
Even small as a sparrow
