When increasing the value of your house is the goal of the home improvement efforts you plan then there are a few important areas where any remodeling projects will give you the maximum return.
Whether you use a remodeling professional, hire individual contractors or even get your own hands and knees dirty, remodeling the kitchen and the bathroom will give you the greatest benefit for investment of money and time. Add extra space where possible, reconfigure the layout of the floor plan (to improve flow and convenience) and replace old fixtures.
The kitchen often has the most opportunity to re-arrange the counter, sink, range and refrigerator in a way that will make food preparation easier and even increase storage space. Remodeling professionals will take such things into consideration when planning a home improvement. Should you bring individual contractors to a remodeling job then mention other home improvements you might be considering, it might impact the current remodeling project.
Extra space in the bathroom is nice but a small bathroom can be cozy and easy to clean. Shine and decor in the bathroom will increase the value of any home. New sink, tub, and other fixtures sparkle and shine when showing the house to prospective buyers. Replacing old flooring, cabinets and grout, if not the tile as well, can brighten even a small space.
Throughout the rest of the house think in terms of space, flow and lighting. Removing or moving walls can open up space in a room that is maybe too small for convenience or add extra space for adjoining rooms. Another consideration is making that cavernous space into a good sized room and a small computer area.
Finding help for design ideas or how-to information on the web is just as easy as finding your home remodeling professionals, contractors and supplies. Google those phrases and you get a lot of helpful facts but there is more than that available to the home remodeler. There are remodeling and home improvement social network sites where people are posting their questions and answers about home improvement in a real time format that can be a lot of help.
Rather than give a long list, just go to www.blogcatalog.com and search "remodeling and home improvement" and you will be presented with many blogs and remodeling and home improvement social network sites where you can connect with people that are remodeling right now.
