Poetry: My dear mother

Thanks Mom

My dearest mother, thanks for a lifetime of memories

You are as soothing as spring's gentle breeze

Contemplating parenthood, I fondly recall your guiding examples

You taught me absolutely everything, and here are a few samples

You loved me unconditionally, as any parent should

In times when I was doubtful or uncertain, you told me that I could

You did all that you were able to do, and even took it up a notch

I am eternally grateful, for affording me the opportunity to watch

You gave me my set of wings, and encouraged me to fly

You enabled me to soar, and the limit was merely the sky

You gave me the foundations on which I could build

A chest full of memories, with love is blissfully filled

When I displayed my faults, and caused you worry and trouble

You reached out your heart, and lifted me from the rubble

You have supported all my endeavours, even if you did not agree

But through the thick and the thin, you taught me how to be me

You've given me more than any one person deserves

You have shown me that parental love never sways or swerves

I have studied under your tutelage, now it is time for my test

I am well prepared, because after all, I learned from the best
