All I have to say is: Remember the lie you told!
So many times people just tend to forget that they've told a lie to begin with. They tell one person one thing and tell someone else another thing. Then it all goes around in a vicious cycle until people figure out that what you said must not have been true since there are two different versions to the story.
If you can manage the lies you tell, and that is no easy feat, then you are as good as golden. No one can ever tell a liar if there is no need to suspect it. If your stories never ring false and are consistent with everyone you come in contact with, and I mean EVERYONE, then you're safe.
If you are ever confronted, and you have followed the rule of keeping your story consistent, then you can always use the "ask this person, she'll confirm it" strategy. This will work because you would have told the same lie to someone else.
But beware, once there is a leak and you find yourself questioning the truth from the lie, then it may be time for you to take a breather. Maybe tell the truth a little bit more and it won't seem such a chore to remember what lie you told!
