How to treat the flu

The best way to treat the flu is by prevention. We all know this right? You hear people talk about getting their flu vaccine, which is always a good idea, but sometimes you just are not able to get to the clinic and get the shot. What happens then? You catch the flu. However, this is not the end of the world as some people believe it to be. In the next few moments I would like to share some good advice on how to treat the flu. These tips have been proven to work.

The first thing you must always do is to remember to wash your hands. This is very important because washing your hands helps to keep from spreading germs. Just because you're sick does not mean, everyone else needs to be also. You should never go to work or school when you have the flu. It could end up in an epidemic.

Secondly, you should make absolutely sure that you are getting tons of fluids down you. When you have the flu sometimes you just don't feel up to eating. If you drink plenty of liquids, preferably ones with vitamin c in them, you will be less likely to dehydrate. If you do think you are dehydrated see your doctor at once.

Next, you are going to need plenty of bed rest. This is so important. Your body's healing process starts when you go to sleep. The more you sleep, the faster you will get over the flu. Most of the time this proves to be true.

It is wise to take Tylenol for your fever and body aches. Never let you fever get above one hundred and two. If it does go to your doctor or the emergency room. Never take your fever lightly, this can sometimes be fatal.

Just for your own comfort make sure you have a box of Kleenex by your bed and some cough drops. This keeps you from having to get up and down out of bed so much. It just makes things easier on us. Then all you have to do is curl up under the warmth of the covers and let your body its work. The flu is a virus. Most doctors will not give you antibiotics to treat it, because it really does no good. It just has to run its course.

In closing, I hope these tips will help you. The flu is dreadful to catch, but if you do the things I mentioned above you should be over it in a week. So remember to drink plenty of fluids, and eat if you are up to it. Stay in the bed and put some cough drops and Kleenex's where you can easily reach them. Take Tylenol for your fever and body aches. By doing these things soon you will be on the road to recovery.
