Truth is what they wanted. Their eyes pleaded for mine to divulge every detail that they sought. I however, sat there silently sipping my coffee, and enjoying my rare moment of power. Truth they craved, but it was mine to decide what truth would be heard.
"So" I began, instantly perking up the interest of my audience "I gather you all are a bit curious as to what happened last night."
All cups, glasses, and assorted utensils dropped in the following moment. Their faces zeroed in on me like I was Johnny Depp walking down the street naked. I knew then that my moment had come, and I was going to milk it to the fullest.
"Which one was it?" The red head to my left began my interrogation "The blonde, or the really hairy guy?"
"Oh dear" I replied before taking an elegantly casual sip of my coffee "I am quite sure I have no idea whom you are talking about."
The collective narrowing of their eyes in frustration informed me that I hadn't made the best opening move. My window for recovery was short, and more bait would be needed before I could properly toy with their minds.
"Ah yes" I corrected "The two gents by the dart board!" They all nodded in anticipating approval, figuratively clawing for the rest.
I suppose I could work the story in that direction. Perhaps not to the hairy man's benefit, but his blonde baby faced companion was a plausible option. Yet then I could recall his pet mole, its ugliness put his hairy friend to shame.
"About them" I decided to fabricate "I believe one was married, and the other probably wets his Star Wars sheets."
"Well" most thought in unison "You left too early last night for us to believe that nothing happened to you."
In fact it was our groups fondest rule concerning bar night. No one was to leave before one in the morning. Only to be waived in the view of extreme medical circumstances, or extreme male circumstances. Being of apparent sound mind and body, there was only one explanation for my absence. And they wanted to know every gruesome detail.
"I bet" my opposite began "It was that adorable brother in the black trench coat, that dark and mysterious one in the corner?"
"Go on!" they all goaded, their greedy smiles begged me incessantly "Tell me everything, tell me something!"
"Okay" I began at last, consenting to their madness "Here is how the cookie crumbled."
Heaven help me, I hit them with everything I had. How he came up to me last night to look deep into my hazel eyes, smiling widely at whatever he saw in them. The way he shook my hand after
