"The Wrong Road Home"
I was shoppin' but not buyin'
Just lookin' 's what I said.
Never meant to hurt you
It was just a game in my head.
But I took the wrong road home,
still it led me back to you.
Wish I hadn't stopped along the way,
But I felt I just had to.
(chorus)
It was a unexpected detour
that never should have been.
But I know something now,
that I didn't know then.
If love is in your hand
and it still lets you be free.
Don't throw it all away
For what could never be.
I ached for you when I was out there,
My heart cried out for you.
But I just couldn't turn around,
after what I'd put you through.
I've kicked myself a thousand times,
and I'll do it a thousand more.
For bein' such a fool the day,
I walked out that door.
(chorus)
It was a unexpected detour
that never should have been.
But I know something now,
that I didn't know then.
If love is in your hand
and it still lets you be free.
Don't throw it all away
For what could never be
So please forgive a man who
took the wrong road home.
And let me try again to be
the one you love alone.
I'm sorry for the times I
lied and led you the wrong way.
I'll put you first in everything,
and do it every day.
(chorus)
It was a unexpected detour
that never should have been.
But I know something now,
that I didn't know then.
If love is in your hand
and it still lets you be free.
Don't throw it all away
For what could never be
