COYOTE'S TAIL: FIRE AND WATER
RATING: 1/5
If you are looking for a fun seek-and-find/puzzle game which will entertain and challenge you with fun game play and an interesting story this game is not for you. You play as one of two sisters: Tletl, the impatient sister with the power of fire whose games have a time limit or Atl, the sister with the power of water who is more calm and plays without any time limit. They are on vacation in the land "now known as Mexico" and end up having to work with the smooth talking god of gambling, Max, and the trickster Coyote to save the world. This is all explained to you during a simple opening movie where only the characters lips move and the voice acting is awful.
Coyote and Max explain that the gods are loosing their powers and to help get them back you must pass their challenges. Before you can attempt a god's challenge though, you have to prove yourself worthy. To help you do this Max has thrown stuff all over the place for you to find, seriously.
The game play is no different then all the other seek-and-find games out there. One of the problems with it though is that is it way too dark. I could not actually see half of the objects I was supposed to find. I discovered quite quickly though that there is no penalty for random clicking (as there is in most other seek-and-finds) so my strategy changed from "try to find the items" to "click every until I find them", which worked out pretty well.
After finishing a seek-and-find level you are given a challenge by one of 15 gods. These challenges given by the gods were extremely easy and I have a hard time calling them puzzles. The first one involved putting numbers in order and the second was a simple "match 2 cards" type game. I can only hope they got more challenging as the game progressed. I did like that after beating each god you get a different artifact to help you in the seek-and-find levels although most of them just seemed to be a way to get another hint.
The sound track for the game suited the environment very well and really helped to set the mood. Unfortunately, as mentioned before, the voice-acting could have been much better and so could the jokes, they were terrible.
I would not recommend Coyote's Tail for seek-and-find game players because you will get very frustrated quickly with the darkness and impossible to find objects. I would also not recommend this game for people who enjoy puzzle games because you will quickly realize there is no challenge.
