The English Premier League was founded and formed in 1992 after English football (soccer) re-branded to keep up with the more glamorous leagues of Spain and Italy of the time. Massive media attention and advertising secured a standing in European soccer that has grown from strength to strength with every season that has passed since.

The first soccer season which was played in the newly formed Premier League was the 1992-93 campaign, and the 22 teams that graced that first season were: (in final league position order for 1992-93)

Arguably the English Premier League is the best soccer league in the world. With glamorous teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United, so is it any wonder that every young boy who plays soccer wants to play in the Premier League?

The English Premier League is not only the favored destination of soccer talent from the school soccer fields, but one of the most fancied leagues of some of the greatest soccer players on Earth. Premier League status for soccer clubs is very lucrative and competitive when it comes to teams generating cash funds, cup competition prize money, higher crowd attendance, higher ticket prices and sponsorship all help clubs compete on the soccer player transfer list.

Most Premier League clubs have a sugar-daddy of sorts who will invest cash into the club so that they can compete with the best in the League. Even some of the less recognised soccer teams in the Premier League attract big name players because of financial clout and team ambition, such as a recent acquisition to Manchester City's team in the form of Brazilian star Robinho for a princely sum of around $27,000,000 or 19 million Great British Pounds.

Teams in the Premier League are the envy of all soccer clubs in the English league below them. Teams aspire to play in the 'Premiership', fighting to climb the ranks to play in the a league that is worth millions in cash revenue for soccer clubs. Which will also usually see a big salary pay increase for soccer players, and will usually see big named players attracted to clubs that have advanced from the lower leagues into the Premier League.
