"Beirut Pay day"

Sixteen names on my list, The names got boss pissed

He says, "They dare cross Syria?! They ain't nothing but bacteria!"

"How dare they defy! They will be put on our bulls eye."

"Black Ali, we need you to pursue and subdue."

"After which you will get pay day that is due."

Here I'm in Beirut. The city of dreamers and schemers.

The city of ill-repute. Looking to settle this dispute.

Moving through the south. I'm going on word of mouth.

To find the last mark. A store front loan shark.

Really an informer and performer

Double cross the boss back home

Now he was getting a pay day: two to the dome

The two sleepy hollows, singing that eternal hymn, behead him

The job is done. I holster my gun.

Turn around to get out of the store. Outside there's the Syrian intelligence corps.

They say to me: "You're done with this war's chores. Here's your pay day."

Their steele clicks and I'm given the deep six.

Six to the chest, the very definition I detest.

A Beirut pay day.
