There is always a present danger of leaving your child alone in the car, and a responsible parent is always looking out for them.
1. Abduction is a huge crime in today's society, and a child alone in car has no defense to an adult intent on kidnapping them. A child can be seduced into a lot of things (unlocking the doors, opening the window, etc), even for just a piece of candy.

2. Inadvertently leaving a toxic, or harmful item in the car could seriously injure your child, maybe even kill them. Sprays or oils could be an especially harmful substance.
3. The fear of abandonment is one of the biggest fear a child can have. Whenever you tell a child their mommy isn't coming back, they will get hysterical. If a parental ever leaves their child (toddlers, mostly) even for a short period of time, the child can become hugely traumatized, and when they grow up, have psychological problems.
4. Your child could be taken away! If a police officer encounters a child under the age of nine in a car alone, you could get in huge problems. Your child could be sent to a foster home or you could lose possession of your child, which hurt the child just as much as the parent.

Bottom line: when you and your kids are on the road, take them wherever you go, or leave another adult in the car to watch over the child. Be a responsible role model for your children, and treat them with utmost care.
