Graduating from High School is a difficult time, how are you supposed to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life? Do you go straight to work? Do you continue your education? Do you take some time off?
Let say you make the decision to continue your education. First you must decide what you want to be "when you grow up". Next you have to decide what type of education you would like to go towards, some choices are: community college, business school, or a large university. There are many items that could sway your decision from one type of school to another. Now is the time research each type of school them dissect all of your choice schools with a magnifying glass. Possibly make a list of the pros and cons of each one. I choose to go to eahc type of school at least once and now I have a masters degree and am happy with my life choices. I hope you reach this point i your journey. Good luck!
What is it like attending a career college?
"Career College", "Business School", "Trade School" whichever terminology you choose, all are basically the same but the price may vary. School of this type have a more professional atmosphere that a "University" or "College". During the time that you are attending this type of education program you will get plenty of hands on experience as well as office experience. You might even get the feel that you have already graduated and have been hired into a position. That is the point of this type of education, this helps you to get a real feel of what it is like out there in the "real world".
What are your likes/dislikes about attending a career college?
I personally have attended a Community College, a University and a Business School, all of them vary greatly. While attending a Community College you might get the feel that you haven't really left high school. The teachers are very accommodating and tend to hold your hand. At a University, you are treated like an adult and you are completely dependent on yourself, you have the option to live in a dorm, and no one is going to care if you miss class because it is your responsibility to be there. If you choose to party that is your choice just as much as it is your choice if you decide to study hard and concentrate on school work. Also, if you go to a business school you most likely do not have the choice of staying in a dorm. You are treated as a business associate, you must arrive on time, get your work done, take a break when allowed and can leave at your allotted time. You are a business associate, you are expected to do your job.
Do you find yourself easily accessible when you need it?
As mentioned before you are expected to be easily accessible when needed. Once you get into a routine it is easier to follow the rules and be accessible. While I attended the "Business School" I did find myself easily accessible because I got into the routine and it was clear what needed to be done. While attending the "Community College" and "University" I found planning and organizing to be more difficult because there was no immediate punishment to face if I did not do my work.
Life is a tough choice, but it has to be conquered by each and everyone of us!
