Poetry: Valentine's Day

by Carol Gioia

Created on: February 05, 2009   Last Updated: October 15, 2011

You used to bring me flowers
on Valentine's Day,
and whisper sweet nothings
in your charming way.

While raising our family
life got in the way,
romance took a back seat,
except on Valentine's day.

You'd bring flowers from the garden
when you didn't have a dime,
just to remind me
I was your valentine.

Despite the years were busy,
you always took the time
to say how much you loved me,
I was your valentine.

Now we're in our twilight years
and  Valentine's Day for me,
is always filled with the romance
of reliving that  sweet memory.
