The ideal workplace

The ideal workplace is one where employees, as well as management, are in agreement on how to execute the company's vision and mission. The company always ensures each employee is fully apprised on what is expected of him or her. Employees are never relegated to speculation about what the company expects of them as educating its employees about all phases of the operation is a part of the company's culture.

In an ideal workplace, there is a tradition of reciprocal respect. Employees know they are valued and because they are held in such high esteem, they do their best at all times. If there are disagreements, the workplace environment is such that employees are able to speak freely at all times and without risk. Both employers and employees understand the importance of good communication and each works constantly for a healthy balance in their relationships.

In an ideal workplace, employees restrict discussions about their personal lives. They know that when they settle in to work they are on the company's time and will gear the greater part of their conversations to how they can do their jobs better or how they can maximize productivity. They will definitely not spread gossip and cause discord among co-workers. Additionally, employees leave bad attitudes at home as they realize they belong to them and not to the company or to other employees.

In an ideal workplace, the administration is always fair and impartial and communicates ongoing any changes that affect its employees. The old "workplace ethics" that once engendered loyalty and allegiance from both employers and employees is restored; both management and employees feel committed to do what is best to sustain and maintain the fiscal strength of the company. Because with these ethics in place, even when the business is not going well, employees will be more apt to continue working as usual if they perceive the company has a history of equality.

In an ideal workplace, promotions and awards are based entirely on merit.

In an ideal workplace, employees meet deadlines and uphold the ideals of the company. They work in teams and respect the input of their peers. They attempt in all they do to enhance or bring out the best in each other. They are always polite to each other and if there are disagreements they discuss them as mature adults; they never attack each other. They always discuss their differences and may frequently agree to disagree.

In an ideal workplace, the administration conducts staff meetings only when there are issues to be discussed. When they convene staff there is always an agenda and, if possible, provided prior to meetings so employees are able to make the best use of their time as they will have researched issues in advance of the meetings.

In the ideal workplace, employees look forward to going to work each day.
