Valentine's Day is a mixture of sensuality, love, and romanticism. Making certain that Valentine's Day is not fraught with peril is of the utmost importance when you are planning out the day. To try and ensure that you have a happy Valentine's Day, several strategies and thoughts need to be considered.

You must figure out what it is exactly that your significant other would like to do on this special day, and then you must carry off these plans with nary a hitch. Depending on the intensity of your relationship, modify all tips so that they fit in properly with your date.

A couple that has been married for years can expect a different strategy than would someone who is trying to woo a potential suitor. Exercise caution and good, sound judgement. Your happiness on Valentine's Day revolves around your choices.

The price of flowers rises dramatically all of a sudden, and the need for pink Teddy Bears swells immeasurably.

With but just one day to dazzle and impress you loved one, you really need to make the day count. Valentine's Day occurs only .3% of the total year. This enhances its significance factor exponentially. Making this day unforgettable and happy is paramount. For a successful and happy Valentine's Day, the following tips may serve beneficial.

1) Smother your loved one with attention. Dote on your loved one and pamper them with all of their favorite things. Sappy works on Valentine's Day. If your loved one can tell beyond a shadow of a doubt that you cherish and worship the ground that they walk on, then your Valentine's Day will be a happy one.

2) Stay focused on your loved one, and don't plan to do anything with another couple or a large group. Stay together just the two of you. Valentine's Day is special, and your loved one will want to be spoiled. Quantity and quality time are of high value on this day to ensure you're happy.

3) Be courteous and respectful, and be on time. Make special arrangements for your day. Send your loved one a bouquet of his or her favorite coloured roses to work or home. If you are able to hand deliver them yourself, your day will almost certainly wind up quite happy.

Send a box of chocolates, a fruit tray, or anything else to show your thoughtfulness. Make sure that your loved one does not have to prepare any meals or clean up any dishes afterwards.

4) Don't leave anything to chance. Be prepared. If you want to go and see a movie, purchase your tickets ahead of time to avoid potential problems. Choose the movie wisely, as it should have an appeal to your loved one.

Make reservations for your loved one's favorite restaurant, and ensure that their menu still includes this meal. Sit in a secluded spot and be sure to tell them why exactly they are the love of your life.

5) Set the mood properly for your loved one, since sensuality and seduction play a key role in the romanticism of Valentine's Day. Play music that your loved one cherishes or that has a distinct place in your relationship, such as your first song from your wedding. Have the lighting dimmed to create a romantic ambiance, and have some soft candlelight to accentuate the setting.

6) Buy a gift that is just for them. Do not buy something like an appliance that is a chore, or anything that they may have to return. Be thoughtful. A gift from the heart will be far more appreciated than anything else.

7) Buy a card, or make one yourself. Be certain that the sentiment written is appropriate for your relationship.

8) Turn your cell phone off. Do not allow for any unnecessary interruptions. If you have children, make sure they are taken care of, or include them in your plans if it is appropriate.

9) Have a special request played on the radio station that he or she listens to while at home or work. Have their car filled with red heart-shaped balloons while they are busy at work.

For a happy Valentine's Day, the only thing you really need to do for certain is to be there. Spending some quality time together is of the utmost importance. As long as you show your loved one that they are important you will be fine. Smother them with attention and compliment them often. This is the one day of the year when sappy is perfectly acceptable and expected.

A happy Valentine's Day involves mutual admiration, so heed warning to not try and do anything inappropriate for your relationship.
