The Mind Of A Soldier
His thoughts, yesterday
Were of the car in the driveway
His girlfriend across the street
Would he pass, or fail, in school
How long until his father noticed
The lawn wasn't cut
That was yesterday
Stepping on a plane
Changed his reality
Will I be shot today
Will I protect my buddies
Will I kill a civilian
Please, God, reinforce my helmet
I will fight to protect my family
But, I really wish
I were home helping my Dad
