Online shopping has grown at an incredible rate over the past few years, not because of brilliant marketing campaigns by savvy stores; simply because it's a fast and convenient way to shop for most things. Let's begin with some of the more obvious benefits.

1. We Never Close!
This is certainly true of online shops. Wake up sweating at 3am because you forgot to order that new TV? OK, maybe not, but you get the idea. Online shops are always open so whenever you think of that thing you need to buy, they're ready and waiting.

2. The Traffic Is Ridiculous!
It's Saturday lunch time and you know hitting the shopping mall would involve a stressful journey and a fight for parking spaces. What could be more relaxing than turning on your computer and brewing up a coffee?

3. That's a 46" Flat Screen TV And I'm On My Motorbike!
OK, slightly extreme, but online shopping does free you up from the problems associated with getting bulky products home from the store. Some of the most popular items bought regularly by supermarkets home delivery services are bottled drinks, toilet rolls and washing powder.

4. How Much Is That iPod In The Window?
Online shopping offers consumers far more transparency on the price of popular branded products than ever before with all kinds of services available to quickly compare the price of your desired purchased. Enter a product name or part number into Google and a list of comparisons is immediately provided.

5. Who's Got My Credit Card Now?
Many people still worry about the security of online shopping. The simple truth of the matter though is that online shopping is every bit as secure as traditional shopping and, in many cases, more so. Online shops have expensive security processes in place to ensure the security of their customer information. This is to protect them as much as you. Imagine the damage to their business if it got out that they'd lost their customer details.

So there we have it, five obvious benefits of shopping online as opposed to going out in the miserable, cold weather. There are lots of other advantages too of course, the weather doesn't matter, the kids aren't in the way, and you don't have to listen to that awful piped music!

Whatever the reason, online shopping is here, and here to stay. In my experience, once you've tried online shopping going back to traditional stores becomes less of a consideration. So, if you've never tried online shopping, give it a go. You might be surprised by how much you actually enjoy it!
