My Tree
I watched you bathed in sunlight.
Beneath your sturdy branches I found peace,
and just like a friend you are always here for me.
I watched you dance in the moonlight.
Just like a gypsy by the fire, you were graceful and free.
It reminded me of how I used to be
I watched you die in the fall.
Each leave fell like a drop of blood.
I cried tears of sorrow to see you naked and bleak.
I watched you give birth in the spring.
Just like a proud mother you grew and finally brought new life.
I smiled as each blossom turned to leaves.
I watched you grow wide and tall.
Just like a child stretching out your arms.
I laughed with joy wishing I could be so free.
