Skills Tips in Runescape
In the online mmo game of Runescape there are over a million players that log in every day. Some of these gamers are members (those that pay a fee to access more of the game) and some of those are what is called F2P members (or free to play). The F2P members get a smaller screen and ads, and they do not have access to all the quests, map areas, skills, and items that the members who pay have access to. The members pay a small fee (under $6) a month so that they can play the game with a full screen and have a mass quantity of more
There are fifteen skills that the free play gamers will be able to access, while the members can do all 24 skills. Each of these skills can be "leveled" or raised to 99. This is the highest skill level available. All of the skills are classified in different categories. There are processing skills, extraction skills, combat skills, and the independent skills.
The Processing Skills
These are the skills that are received through excavation or different extraction areas and must process them in some way for them to be used. A good example of this is Smithing. Smithing will need the ore from Mining (an extraction skill) to use to make bars with. The processing skills are Magic, Smithing, Cooking, Fletching, Firemaking, Herblore, Construction, Crafting, Summoning, and Runecrafting.
The Extraction Skills
These skills are the ones that you will get directly from the environment or resource. These can be sold at the Grand Exchange as a money maker without anything else done to them. An example of this will be Woodcutting. All it needs to level up is to chop a tree down for logs, and then the logs can be sold and used as is without change. The extraction skills are Mining, Woodcutting, Hunter, Fishing, Summoning, Thieving, and Farming.
The Combat Skills
These are the skills that are used while the player is in battles and combat throughout the land. For an example, the skill of Hitpoints is a combat skill. Hitpoints aren't lowered while the player isn't in combat, only while they are in combat. The combat skills are Attack, Magic, Hitpoints, Defense, Strength, Prayer, Ranged, Slayer, and Summoning.
The Independent Skills
These are the skills that will not go directly into a specific category, or will go in multiple categories. An example of an independent skill is agility, it doesn't fall in any other category so is an independent skill. The independent skills are Magic (falls in multiple categories), Summoning (falls in many categories), and Agility (falls in no other category).
Each skill can be leveled from the starting base of 1 to a top level of 99. When a skill is at the highest point the player earns a cape of achievement. When two skills have reached the high of 99 in each, the player earns a cape of achievement that is trimmed to show the higher status.
