Ah, another wonderful day in the life of a business student. Well, okay, another wonderful day in the life of a non-traditional business student. Err....a married, father-of-two, employed-full-time, strung-out-beyond-recognition, often-cannot-remember-his-own- first-name, would-occasionally-like-to-tra de-his-soul-for-a-little-more- sleep-in-the-morning, non-traditional business student, to be politically correct. Life is good.
My mornings are like most folks'. I get up at the crack of dawn and, being careful not to wake my wife, I turn on the computer and check my schedule to see what homework is due that day so I can make sure I have it all done. Check! I drink a cup of coffee, I get dressed, do my hair, start the car, take the trash out to the can and the can to the street, feed the cats, drink a cup of coffee, and feed the fish. Check! I pick out my daughter's outfit for the day, wake her up, turn on some cartoons, give her a hug and kiss, and drink a cup of coffee. Check! I kiss my wife, the baby, grab my lunch and go. Check! I get a block away from the house, realize that I forgot my laptop, turn around, go back to the house, grab it, kiss everyone goodbye again, and show up to work 15 minutes late. Check!
After a long hard day at work, it's time to go to class. Luckily I used my lunch hour to finish the homework I fell asleep doing last night. I grab a cup of coffee in the commons, not that anyone should need help staying awake during a riveting hour and a half of The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business. After class it's the library to work on our group project, then finally home for a late dinner, just in time to kiss the kids goodnight. My wife and I share a wonderful conversation over the sound of clicking as I do my homework. This quality time together keeps our marriage spicy. After my homework is done we curl on the couch as I review the specifications that I had to bring home because I left work on time to get to class.
Yes sir, life is good.
