Strong black man,
And you're always there for me.
The one man that completely has my back
And loves me flaws and all,
Unconditionally.
Taught me the ropes,
Right from wrong.
Passed your legacy on through me
Because I am you.
The only one who comes to my rescue,
And I am always crying out for help.
Love is pain;
You are the fire shaping this piece of coal
Into a diamond.
Though sometimes you can be dark, rainy, and stormy
Your weather forecast is that way
Less than a week in an entire year.
You often are my silver lining to a cloud;
When I think of you I can push on,
The best role model and motivator ever.
I persevere and say,
"I can because he can."
Kept my life as comfortable as you could
But if it wasn't enough you would listen
And wipe the tears away.
We don't always see eye to eye
And occasionally we fall out.
I once said I hate you,
But today I can proudly say I love, appreciate, and admire you
Strong black man.
