Mine and All Mine

I have to myself, I just will not share,
The most wonderful wife to be found anywhere.
"What kind of wife," you may ask,
"Could deserve such appelation?
To receive such spousal praise without hesitation?"
I will tell you though I warn, if you raise your standards this high,
You'll be thoroughly aghast 'cause she's one of a kind.
The kind of wife who will kiss without giving warning,
And make deviled eggs in the wee hours of the morning.
The kind of wife who is patient to the point of exhaustion,
And makes love at all hours with no heed to caution.
The kind of wife who remembers to pray before bed,
Then lays me to slumber gently rubbing my head.
The kind of wife who remembers all that I won't,
And holds back her fury when she says do and I don't.
The kind of wife who misses me when I'm across the couch,
And holds me so tight I almost say "Ouch!"
She cooks healthy dinners, hot and ready when I'm home.
And when my fat tells me tuna she gently says "No."
When we sit in bed, wondering if the neighbors can hear us,
I know I'll never forget when she said "Are you serious?"

And then she said yes, of course.
