Has your day started with left over thoughts of yesterday ? Sometimes they are the things you have read about and the stories others have written. Who and what do we believe ? Is everything the truth? Writers everywhere now investigate, report and blog. They then craft with their written words what they believe is the truth.
In the area of politics , we read and hear about it everyday in the newspapers and in the media. Our opinions on events , often drifts into the areas where we are comfortable. Sometimes it is to the extreme left or right. Each of us internalizing what we have heard and what we have seen in written words.
We have recently learned that those we used to trust and believe in , have fallen from grace and in one great swoop. How is it that we were all duped ? Because , we believed every word that was written and said, and accumulatively we all digested , what sounded like the truth. And those words were what we wanted to believe. We also believed that those in our leadership positions were trustworthy. And we trusted that there were high ethical standards in place. We found out differently, especially when it came to those that were over seeing our largest investments. Those in our stock market.
This is how very easy a society can be influenced in both good and bad ways by the written word. During the past presidential election, and the moving inaugural events. Writers fed our society the hope we so badly needed. Were there any articles about unrest ? Did you hear or read about any horror stories ? If you did it was rare. Why ? Because writers did not want to look for those stories to write about that day, they too were caught up in the events of the day. It was all about hope for the future. Writers didn't want it any other way.
Surrounding us with opportunities for new stories. Those in celebrity are also written about everyday. The slant on them, can go either way. Like the paparazzi that follow stars and take photos . So too , hungry writers are waiting for something to write. We know that an unethical writer's words can destroy careers , reputations and influence the majority.
All writers, especially those who blog in the public arena , should be responsible to pass on information about how they see things, but they should also use the facts. Sometimes those words are not what people want to read about. Often they are thought to not be titillating enough. So a writer who wants to be a performer will often embellish . Maybe too much.
Sometimes
