The most beautiful blessing I have ever had was when I gave birth to my wonderful son Richard Michael. He was born October 20th, 2008. The day He was born was the day I knew this was a new start for me, to become the best mother I could ever be. To give him everything I never had for my own. It's kind of funny though how he was born.
I had a scheduled C-section for October 21st which landed on a tuesday. I went to the doctors that friday before to check to see if I was Dialated. My doctor told me I wasn't barely even one centimeter. I asked her if theres a chance that I would have him over the weekend and she said she doubted it. So over the weekend was just fine, I was so anxious though. That Monday morning, I had an appointment with my surgeon at eight o clock in the morning. Well, that monday morning I ended up starting to go into labor around five o'clock in the morning. My back started hurting which woke me up and I thought I just slept wrong. I gave it a hour or two and the pain just got worse and worse. I knew then I was in labor.
So, I tell my fiance, this baby isn't going to make it to tomorrow. I could tell in his eyes, he was a little nervous but very excited. So we both got into his car and we were headed for the hospital, the pain was almost non tolerable by this point. Our luck, we got stuck behind a school bus for about 4 blocks. Then we hit four red lights. It was so painful for the labor. I finally made it to the hospital and I went into the office and told them how I have an appointment with the surgeon but, now I am in labor. So they rushed to get me a wheel chair and rolled me into a room. It was about eight thirty when they were doing all the blood work and my fiance had to fill out paper work for me and him. By the time I got to the hospital, I was less than two minutes apart, I couldn't believe today was the day because he just didn't want to wait one more day.
I was pretty scared because I never knew I had to get a C-Section until I was nine months pregnant. I was scared about the needles in the back and the whole process and all I wanted was my little baby boy to be born healthy. I can tell you though, due to back and front labor, I wanted them needles. They gave me two needles in the back and once they kicked in, I couldn't feel any more of the labor, I was completely numb from the waist down and it was so much better.
They started the C-Section around Nine-Thirty in the morning, The whole process was very memorable. My fiance stood right by my side and kept talking to me the whole time. We both knew that today was going to change the rest of our lives and I can not tell you how much excitement I seen in his eyes. He actually got to see the baby before me. My son was finally born at 10:43AM at five pounds and thirteen ounces. He was small but he was very healthy. The very first time I heard him cry, I cried. After being in the recovery room for a couple hours, while my fiance was holding my son, I finally got to hold him for the first time and all I felt was so much love that filled my heart.
Not only do I have a wonderful son now, but I have a family. My own family. I have two of the best men in my life now and I couldn't be any more happy.
