Spring break is traditionally renowned for wild and unadulterated fun. Every spring students shed the classrooms, libraries and the books in lieu of a good time and some relaxation. The stereotyped impression of spring break is lots of beaches, sun, late nights and parties.
While there are many various ways students spend their spring breaks, the above scenario is a very real one. If you are a student who is in pursuit of experiencing the crazy fun in the sun kind of spring break it is important to pay heed to some important safety tips while you are on your vacation.
Here are some tips on how to stay safe on spring break:
*Location
While you can encounter danger virtually anywhere, you'll be safer if you choose a destination which is relatively safe. You don't want to head off to an area where there is a lack of order and total chaos.
Additionally if you can pick a hotel which has secured doors, a lobby and well lighted areas this is of value. This kind of hotel may cost a little more, but it will pay off in terms of safety because no one will be able to access your room without going through the lobby and you'll always be in illuminated areas which decreases your chances of encountering harm.
*Safety in Numbers
To increase your level of safety always stay with a buddy. It is unwise to head out to a bar, beach party or any other location alone. Two or more people sticking together is far safer than going out alone. If you go out alone you are at much higher risk for becoming a walking target.
While it is acceptable to make new friends and socialize when you're away, always stick with your buddies. Never go off with a stranger no matter how "nice" they appear because appearances are not always what they seem. If you encounter the wrong stranger, you may end up in danger or be assaulted.
*Drinking
If drinking is part of the itinerary, pay special heed to the safety factors associated with drinking. When you drink your inhibitions tend to be lowered and your awareness of your surroundings are lessened. If you drink too much and lose your attentiveness, this can easily lead to harm because Intoxication tends to bring out uncharacteristic behavior and lowers your sense of good judgment.
Never wander away and leave your drink unattended because you don't want to risk someone tampering with your drink. Additionally it is a good idea to not overindulge in alcohol so you don't put yourself at risk or get sick from over-consumption.
A good way to avoid some of the safety issues
