Walking to an Almost-Home
I went a stop farther than I had to
And I walked back the extra blocks
With my headphones on
Music contextualised the landscape
Beautifully
In a way that had nothing to do with anything
The song was quiet, soppy even
Simple, pretty, with an occasional violin
It would not be appreciated at my destination!
The violin soared in a gully between two mountains
Draped in snow and choked in misty cold
While I walked through nondescript temperatures
A very few heavy cold raindrops falling straight down
A very few plum blossoms floating absently sideways
And music swelling in my ear-drums, and so through the vast landscape
I sang along aloud-
And now officially: I'm one of the crazy people.

Say goodbye to me
on a plane or train
Say goodbye to me
in my car
I leave
