This old house it holds the memories
Of the laughter and the tears we shed
The good times and the bad times we've been through
And, these four walls could tell some stories
Of the love that we both shared here
And the dreams we had of all that we could do

Once this house was filled with music
And the sound of children's laughter
As we played with them each day in the yard
But, now these walls they are as empty
As my arms which used to hold you
And all you left was a simple good-bye card

You wrote:

"Happy Birthday, Baby
I'd like to be there with you
I'm sorry, but there's something you should know
Though we've had some good times
I never said forever
I love you, but it's time for me to go."

Now this house is up for sale
And a couple is looking at it
They remind me of the way we used to be
They'll hang their pictures on the walls like we did
Make a million memories
I wish you'd never left that card for me

Because;

Listen closely, Baby
I want you here beside me
I love you, but there's something you should know
Yeah, we had some good times
But, I never said forever
I'm sorry, but you never had to go.
I'm sorry, Baby you ever had to go.
