The advantages and dangers of dieting

Is it advisable to do a diet on our own?

What is a Diet?

According to the definition of the English Language Dictionary:

Diet: "regime that sends observe sick or convalescing in eating and drinking ..."
Diet is one rule to follow for the selection and preparation of food, provides a rate schedule of meals according to the stated goal of the diet. Erroneously considers Diets, as synonymous with deprivation of food.

There are many diets, some with a solid scientific basis, that have improved in many diseases effectively. Usually, for ordinary people, called allowances, to measures to lose weight.

Many of these diets, some help to improve the health, being balanced, varied, economic, etc. Other cause, without professional supervision, serious health disorders.

Before starting any diet, for health care:

- Decide to lose weight: the success of a diet is not about losing weight fast, but in slow decline, and once achieved the goal, which is maintained in the rest of my life.

This is accomplished by a commitment to compliance with the Food and plan on changing dietary habits to eliminate errors and to initiate or increase physical activity.

- Complete medical checkup, the doctor will indicate the type of diet to follow, according to age, weight, height, physical activity.

- Consult with a nutritionist or dietitian: a professional nutritionist, is able to properly guide the selection of a customized meal plan, balanced, harmonious, appropriate, respecting the preferences in the selection of food and according to schedule available.

Select diets, to lose weight quickly, without professional advice could cause serious damage to health.



Type of Diet: Fiber

Time of realization: To achieve the weight. Continue to maintain, adding other foods.

Foods allowed: lean meats (beef, chicken, skinless turkey, fish), liver, kidney once a week, skim milk, fruits, vegetables, legumes, bran flour, bran cereal (wheat and oats) to 9 tablespoons spread at every meal, egg and oil in a moderate way.

Prohibited foods: fatty cuts of beef, pork, cold meats, whole milk, butter, margarine, fried foods, sugar, sweets, honey.

Disadvantages: Too much fiber can cause diarrhea, gas, reduces the absorption of calcium, iron and vitamins.

Advantages: Increases satiety promotes bowel movement, prevents the absorption of excess fat and sugar in the intestine.

Type of Diet: Vegetarian.

Time of completion: short periods. It is not advisable for children.
