Songs: Roses

by Laurel A Rockefeller

Created on: February 03, 2009

I remember it so clearly

How you gave your heart to me

How you promised forever

That we were meant to be

But promises are fleeting

And words are only words

And the your roses are just petals on the ground

Chorus:

Are your words just made for playing?

Or were your ever real?

Are the roses just for dying

What ever was the deal?

From the flower of my maidenhood

I gave you everything.

Now the roses that you gave me

Have come to nothing.

I remember it so clearly

The way you courted me

The smooth things that you said back then

That we were meant to be

Now I'm left alone with nothing

Not a rose to call my own

Just the ashes of what might have been

And sorrows coming home.

(chorus)

Bridge:

Do you care what happens now to me?

Now you have had your fun?

Do the women that you sleep with matter?

Or do you just move on?

(chorus twice)
