Lawrence Massachusetts is a city of 73, 000 and is located 20 miles North of Boston. Public transportation in Lawrence is a great choice. Not just because of gas prices, or the environment. Lawrence has made traveling through its streets and to nearby cities and town, easy. If a Lawrencian wants to get around the city, they'll have no problem. Lawrence has many modes of public transportation.

Odds are if you are in Lawrence, The Merrimack Valley Regional Transit bus will probably be approaching a corner any moment. They ride up and down the streets all day picking up those waiting at a stop. Whether you need to get from Prospect Hill to Essex Street, or South Lawrence to Salem NH, just hop on the bus. The cost is only about 2.00 R/T. Need to go shopping at the Loop in Methuen? A friend's house in North Andover? Rockingham Mall? No problem, the bus-line travels from Lawrence to all neighboring cities hourly. Cities like Haverhill, Lowell, Newburyport, and Salisbury Beach. If you hop off one bus and get on another, you can travel to Boston, Worcester, and even the Cape.

Maybe you're a rail person. A Train fan. The MBTA has trains from Lawrence to Boston and many cities in between. Take the T to Haverhill and you can catch AMTRAK train service into North Station/ TDNorth Boston Garden. If you live in Lawrence and want a day trip to the Boston Science Museum or Aquarium, you can't beat the stress-free ride and no parking hassles of the T. The kids will love it too.

Some people prefer to call a taxi. In Lawrence there are several reputable taxi companies to call when you need a ride. Of course during peak hours, you can wait up to an hour. Peak times in most cities are, 9pm when the bars get rocking, and 1 Am when the bars close. It'll cost you a few bucks depending on your destination, but you'll arrive hassle free. When I was younger my mother didn't drive, so we used public transportation all the time. Most of the time it was Taxi's. They made grocery shopping easy as the driver would help her carry all the bags. Her favorite rides were, Lawrence Cab, Yellow Cab and Diamond Taxi. These taxi's are convienent as they run 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. I can't imagine how many car accidents have been prevented by taxi's giving the drunk driver an option. The designated driver you pay for, and worth every dollar. Don't forget the tip.
