I love the way the more sissified citizens of the U.S. utilize the crybaby-mantra of "we need gun control" as an emotional bludgeoning tool against logic and reason, because it completely ignores the FACT that those who have the guns, have the control. Apparently (and appallingly) these folks are clearly not students of even recent history. These are the same people that keep regurgitating their self-glorifying hate for "Nazis" yet completely overlook the fact that the Nazis effectively disarmed their victims before beginning the holocaust which claimed the lives of millions. Stalin did the same to over 20 million Russians in the same time period. Pol Pot, Chairman Mao, Saddam Hussein- they did the same. The list of political powers-that-be that have enabled genocide through disarmament is endless. Genocides all throughout history have never been enacted by armed citizens. They have been initiated by governments who first rendered their populace defenseless. Yes- gun control works...FOR THE GOVERNMENT. The results have been somewhat less than desireable for citizens. Mass graves that dot the global landscape can attest to that.
Ask yourself this: Why would a government be so desiring to disarm its citizenry? What do the citizens REALLY have to gain from it? Safety? Security? Thomas Jefferson (who was a much wiser and astute man than any well-coiffed, political bottom-feeder that infects todays political arena) said it best- "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." They knew, even back then, that power corrupts. Absolute power rests upon the broken back of subservience. A government cannot obtain absolute power if the citizens are capable of rising in their own defense. ALL governments know this. A corrupted government looks for ways to disarm the people. A just government relishes in an armed citizenry.
When England and Austrailia had private ownership of firearms banned, violent crime skyrocketed. Gun violence did not slack even a little. Criminals operating outside the law knew that the law-abiding, former gun owners were now defenseless which made their trade a lot easier. The only people who are affected by gun bans are those who follow the law. So the majority was put at the mercy of the minority. Does this sound right to you? I sincerely hope not.
In the United States we have the Second Amendment which specifically states that the right of the

Encouraging men to be less macho may help in other social areas of life, but unfortunately not in the area of gun control.
