Information your babysitter should have about your family

There is so much information you should equip your babysitter with when caring for your child. The more information your babysitter has the better care he or she will be able to give to your child. Do not be afraid to give information that seems like common sense. Covering all bases is not only smart but essential.

Having a binder with filled with all of information your babysitter will need is an organized way to keep your babysitter informed. Make sure the binder is quickly available each time the babysitter is there. It is suggested that the babysitter does read it and so he or she is familiar with the information ahead of time. Also post some of the information on the refrigerator and by the phone for quick reference. The binder is just convenient way to have all of the information handy and is an amazing space saver.

Emergency Contacts

The first list you should compile is a list of emergency contacts. This should include the phone numbers the babysitter can reach you at. Not only should you have your contact information on the list, but alternate emergency contact information as well. This could be other relatives, close friends, and neighbors. Be sure to include their names, addresses, and phone numbers. Although you may have a cell phone, some cell phones lose signal so you need to have someone your babysitter can contact if they can't get through to you.

Aside from close family and friends, you should also have the numbers of the police, fire, and ambulance. Not all areas have 911 so be sure to have these numbers posted clearly by the phone. Also, have the number to poison control easy accessible. Although we all hope we won't need these numbers, it is always good to be on the safe side.

Allergies

Always list any allergies your children may have. For example, some children have fatal allergies to peanuts and should stay away from them at all costs. This includes touching and smelling them. Another example is, some children are allergic to certain shampoos and detergents. The best thing to do is to list the allergy, its severity, the allergic reaction the child has to it, and what to do in the event the child has an allergic reaction.

Also let your babysitter know of any medication allergies. If you have multiple children, one child could be allergic to a certain type of over the counter medication but not the other. Same goes for prescription medication. Other medication allergies are also good for your babysitter to know in case of an emergency. They would
