Poetry: Be my Valentine

by Barbara Lee Norris

Created on: February 02, 2009   Last Updated: January 11, 2011

My daddy is a hero,

He can't be home with me.

Because he's needed in the war,

Across the deep blue sea.

He said, just blow me kisses,

Don't worry, they'll be fine,

They'll travel fast, head straight for me

Sweet baby, Valentine.

My daddy blew me kisses, too,

They landed on my cheek,

Mommy says he'll send some more,

To look for them next week.

I cry because I miss him;

Mommy whispers, "We'll be fine."

Come home, I want to hold you,

Sweet daddy, Valentine.
