Poetry: I am not

by Cheryl Burger

Created on: February 02, 2009

I know one thing, that I am not!

Not a know it all, or act like one.

Another thing, I am not, is selfish,

or mean, or without a pleasant thought.

I am not a person that would turn you away

if you were hunger, or needed a friend today.

I am not rich with money, but so much more, in other ways.

I smile to myself, and think my husband he still my honey,

and we have been through, oh, so much.

Yet, I am not anything without his love.

Together for over forty years, I am not seeking a different stud,

a speed date, or even the an appraoch at one, that others fear.

I am not afraid to try real hard, to help our

new President, the honorable Barack!

I am not without vision, for I can see his plans

It takes not a genius, but someone that cares and loves our land,

to know he wants the best for all of us,

and wants us to share, and is earning our trust.

To get involved and do just "something"!

Nothing major, just show your American, and that we really do care.

I am not so stuck on "me" that others thoughts

do not count, or that they should feel less

and make my love of life and of myself regress.

I am not lazy, I do my best, and one day I ask my confessor

to make sure I stay good so I can get into Heaven,

to visit with those that left me here on earth.

For I am not always without sin, are you I ask once again.

I am not healthy, but know the meaning so many of you take for granted.

I know I am not, going to depress myself with all my gloom.

I am going to inspire others, to make the best out of life

so they can feel good too themself, and learn how I survived, and continue to strive!

But I am not a doctor, nor would I be one,

the hours are crazy and I am not smart enough.

To take the responsibility of a persons life, and possibly do something

that would turn their entire life upside down, tell them they are

ill and without treatment and care, prescriptions galore,

..................their life may end in less than a year!

I am not strong like this,

but one thing I know for sure,

I thank all of them because I am not one!

And happy as anything that they are one.

So I guess it is a good thing I am, who I be,

and not something different than what I am not you see!
