Do animals have rights?

by Diana Birdwell

Animals have rights too because they are a part of God's creation. They are living creatures that live and breath like us humans. They may not communicate like we do but they do understand more than what we think they understand. Animals deserve to live and be respected. Animals, not all animals, are companions that can help us emotionally heal from our daily issues we face. If we give them the rights that they deserve we then are giving them the chance to live their life with the purpose that God intended for them to live. Animals without rights may not live as long because of restrictions. We have to respect them and give them their space. We can keep them as pets or admire them from afar but respecting them by giving them rights we will be able to help them survive. Animals that don't have any rights are usually mistreated. God gave us rights and so why should animals not have any rights? They live and breath like us. They are a part of creation that we are to hold as precious as ourselves. Animals need to have rights in order to survive and because we are to treat them as we treat each other and that goes back to respecting ourselves as well as the animals. Animals live because God allows both humans and animals to live on the planet to give it some enjoyment as well as learning to respect another living thing. Learning to respect another creature can improve our involvement with them. For example, if we have a pet bird or dog, we should be able to respect the animal because we have taken it in to be our companion or companions and that it deserves to be treated the way it is meant to be treated. The right way. When we treat our animals in the right way we become more attached to them and them to us and the bond between us will grow stronger. When we have pet companions, we need to bond with them and not desert them. Their rights to survive, breed, eat, and other things are needed to keep them surviving. I know that some of this is redundant but it all comes down to that we both, humans and animals, are living and breathing creations from God. If animals can't learn from us then maybe we can learn something from them or vice versa.

And so animals need some of the things that we do. They need things such as the basics such as shelter, food, water, and when they are pets, attention helps too. Giving our pets attention gives them interaction that stimulates them and gives them the time they need to be active. Animals are God's creation that can bring us enjoyment as we watch and interact with them. Like I said before, the bottom line is, is to treat animals like we want to be treated by humans. If we respect animals, then they may respect us back. Animals are creatures to be enjoyed while they are here. We are to help them along by giving them the rights and respect they deserve.
