What is true love?

by Samantha Gardner

True love exists in a world filled with death, sorrow, and hatred. Love is gritty, raw, and passionate. Love doesn't have to be bright rainbows and puppy dogs. It doesn't matter if you are a homeless couple or a king and queen. As humans we need the warmth and love from another individual. Some people are affectionate while others bury their emotions inside of them.

True love is sacrificing your freedom to be intertwined with another person. Nothing in life is more special than sharing experiences with your significant other. When you are truly in love, the world around you stands still. All of the drama from work, school, and daily living are washed away. For that one night you can enjoy being in the presence of your lover. True love doesn't only have one definition. Who is to say that true love doesn't exist? Why let other people tell you how to love your significant other? Nobody has the same mind set in this world. True love is what you make out of it.

If you chose to believe love conquers all then more power to you. If true love wasn't real the world would be a lot different. Through all the hard times we lean to other people to lift us up. True love has no rules or limits because each person has their own definitionof it. No matter how rough the exterior of a person, deep down they want to feel love. Money cannot compensate for truly being in love with someone. When you strip away all the materialistic things from someone, you can see their true colors. It doesn't matter if you are living in a one bedroom apartment with no luxuries.

True love is a gift that many wish they could experience in their lifetime. It is that feeling of constant butterflies and feeling at peace with yourself. We are humans and there is no way to avoid feeling jealousy or possessiveness. Although there should be a limit of feeling these emotions towards your significant other. I don't believe if you feel any negative feelings then that means you don't truly love your partner. Anyone who tells you otherwise is hiding how they feel or they aren't human. True love is definitely the most beautiful thing in life.

Without true love watching a sunset or even driving around wouldn't be as meaningful. We don't need love to complete us or to provide self worth. True love is meant to give us happiness and see the bigger picture. Life is more meaningful when you can accept who you are and the people in it.
