Who cares! I never did until just a few weeks ago. I now have to wear a cap!
My mother was a beautician and she had 4 other beauticians in her beauty shop. I learned very quickly that I was NOT going to be a beautician! I promised myself that I would never become as picky about my hair as those women in that shop!
Because my mother was a beautician, I got to be the guinea pig for her and the other beauticians. I was the model for every hair cut, every style, every color and every permanent on the market!
Some days I would have to go to school with an old lady haircut! Needless to say, kids can be mean!
After I married, I quit visiting beauty shops because no one could cut my hair like I like it. So, I have always cut it on my own.
I am 50 years old now and have never really concerned myself much with my hair. I've had it long and short, blonde to orange to green to purple because now my daughter is always getting me to try a new do! She would have been perfect standing beside my mother in that beauty shop!
My normal haircut is about 1 to 1/2 inches long. I like this easy style. I don't have to blow dry, use a curling iron and I certainly don't have to have hair gel, conditioner or any of the other things on the market people spend a small fortune on. I just use a little hair spray and I'm good to go.
OK, so just a few weeks ago, it was time to cut my husband's hair. I decided I needed to cut mine too because it was getting too long on my neck and I am very hot natured. I cut my husband's hair with clippers.
My husband is terminally ill so my days are very busy and half the time my mind is not completely on what I am doing. Good excuse huh?
I cut my husband's hair using the 1/4 inch guard I had on the clippers. It's easier to take care of him.
I was chastising him about waiting to get in the shower until I cut my hair so I could help him.
I went in, put my head down, and started running the clippers through the back. Boy, I must have really needed a haircut more than I realized! That's a lot of hair on the floor!
When I finished the back, I ran the clippers through to the top of my forehead, looked up, and OH MY GOD!
What have I done! I kept the 1/4 inch guard on the clippers and have just given myself a buzz cut! Well, I couldn't do anything else but finish it!
Now, I'm not knocking buzz cuts for some women. They look great! Not me.
I looked like I was a backwards skunk!
I have dark hair with grey in the front. When I finished, I had dark hair in the middle and grey on the sides. I looked like a skunk!
My husband laughs at me every time he looks at me!
Now my daughter wants me to color the top white blond and the rest black!
I wear a cap!
