Whether you are a visitor or a resident, there are things in Ottawa that you must experience that will create moments you will cherish.

Ottawa is a beautiful city. Being home to Parliament, Ottawa has an image of being a conservative city. Where it might not have the performing arts that are found in Montreal and Toronto it does have many places that are worth visiting.

My top four places you must visit in Ottawa are;

1) The Byward Market. The Market is a farmers market that is second to none. Originating as a place for locals to sell their fruits and vegetables the Byward Market has evolved into a world class destination. Yes you can still find farmers setting up early but now the market includes local artists who sell anything from beads and bracelets to hand woven clothing. Encompassing the booths spread amongst the streets are beautiful buildings that have carried the markets theme into their own businesses. The stores are home to fine art, great food and novelty gift shops. The Byward Market in any season is full of warmth and hospitality and is the must see place in Ottawa for all visitors.

2) The National Gallery of Canada. This museum has been the home to some of the worlds greatest art collections since 1880. Hosting a vast collection of paintings, sculptures and historic exhibitions, one could spend a week inside this amazing building. Not only does one get to gaze upon some of the most renowned art ever but the exhibitions are so detailed that they draw upon your emotions and create moments that stay with you forever. You many not remember the entire gallery but there will be an image that you will never forget!

3) The Canal. The Canal is a beautiful man made waterway, that has become a landmark that far outgrew the concrete walls that house it. During the summer months this waterway is home to many beautiful boats, great walking trails alongside and places of attraction along the entire attraction. During the winter months, the city of Ottawa, take great care of this canal and create the worlds longest skating rink. Restaurants, chip stands and many smiling people make this an attraction that is full of energy and it spreads to all that visit. You must at least visit the canal, even if you don't skate to at least get a beavertail, one of Ottawas great delicacies.

4) ScotiaBank Place. This is the home of the Ottawa Senators. A pro hockey team from the NHL, National Hockey League. In this building you will find great atmosphere. Whether it be a hockey game or a music concert, the building was designed with you the visitor in mind. The halls are lined with memorabilia, great restaurants and entertainment, making this a place to visit for those of all ages.

If you are in Ottawa, you must check out these places. One visit will always lead to another for these attractions are so entertaining and memorable that you will find yourself wanting to go again and again.
